January’s Events

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. The month of January is an exciting and eventful month for those connected to the youth ministry. Most of the construction on the second floor of the Outreach Center is complete and soon we will be painting and finishing off the area with the technology we will install. Please continue to pray for all those doing the work and the transition of our youth ministry up there in the month of January. Here are a list of the events going to be happening. I will also be posting on each individual event as they get closer.

Saturday, January 8th 2011…Youth Family Painting Party–We will be painting the second floor area starting at 10am on Saturday. We hope you will plan to help and join us as we get the new youth area ready for a January kick-off.

Sunday, January 9th 2011…Sunday Evening Youth in the Vann–This will be the first time our main youth gathering (Youth in the Vann) will meet on Sunday nights from 5PM to 7PM. We have decided to move this from Wednesdays to Sundays to allow for less scheduling conflict, building better community within youth group, and the opportunity to bring more friends to Vann. Our evening begins at 5PM with a meal in the Outreach Center. We will then do some group activities and finish the night off upstairs looking at Scripture. We hope you will plan to come.

Wednesday, January 12th 2011…Wednesday Youth Discipleship–This will be our discipleship time in the youth ministry and we will meet from 6PM till 6:45PM. Our emphasis will be on material relevant to youth and their pursuit of Christ in their lives. We will begin in January with material produced by Focus on the Family titled Does God Exist?

Monday, January 24th 2011…Titus 2–I want to encourage any young lady or parent in the youth ministry to be involved in our Titus 2 Women’s ministry. They will be covering in the year 2011, a hugely relevant topic for girls and ladies involved in their lives, called Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild. They meet in the fellowship hall at 6:30PM.

Friday, January 28th 2011…Youth Parent’s Dinner–We will be having a dinner for all parents/guardians of youth at Vann on Friday night from 6PM till 8PM. This evening is designed for only the parents and will serve as an opportunity to encourage one another and discuss plans for the year 2011. We will provide the meat and are asking for each family to bring a covered dish. Please RSVP with Rodney.

Saturday, January 29th 2011…BMen Lunch–I want to encourage any youth fella and any parent/guardian to attend Vann’s BMen Lunch on Saturday. You might get one of the flyers to see the details of the event.

I recognize that this is a lot and could be busy; however, rightly planned out this could be a great month. I hope you will prayerfully consider attending any event that pertains to you. As we transition (Youth Ministry) in the month of January to our new schedule and location (2nd floor), please be praying. Change is never easy but we believe necessary for the immediate and future needs of Vann’s youth ministry.
