Is Your Light Visible?

As I was reading this morning from the gospel of Matthew, I was reminded of what a beautiful day like this is for.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:14-16).”

Now Jesus said some difficult things at times to understand, but this isn’t one of them. If you were like me last night, you used the lights in the house to get around and keep from hurting yourself. For those who love Jesus and follow Him, he says that is the same function as you. You do good and you love people, so that you reflect Jesus. People say you are a good guy or gal and you say, I’m only good because of Jesus and what He did and does for me.” The lights in my house aren’t for them but for me. Likewise, the light Christ has given you isn’t for you but for Him.

We were created to love God and enjoy Him forever. God is most glorified when you are most satisfied in Him. Is your light shining today? If someone notices, who gets the credit?

Make the most of this beautiful day for Jesus!
