Of First Importance
As parents I believe we have a tendency to think of our kids when we think of first importance. For others it might be a job or a team that comes to mind when the idea of first importance is brought up. However, Paul was clear in his letter to the Corinthians when he said, “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. (1 Corinthians 15:3-5).” For Paul the gospel was of first importance. For us to view our children, work, or any extra activity the way God intends us to view them, we must also affirm the gospel as of first importance in our lives. If you are like me you need a reminder. I encourage you to check out this website, Of First Importance, and consider subscribing. This is a great way to begin each day focused on the gospel.
